Publications

My books are available from local booksellers, the publisher's websites, and Amazon.com

I have had my work published in a variety of media, including academic journals, books, book chapters,

textbooks, and articles.

Among my textbooks are reference works in the fields of human anatomy and anatomy & physiology, primarily for freshman-sophomore level college courses but used in courses ranging from AP high school to first-year medical school.

The majority of my research publications have been on the comparative anatomy, histology, physiology, and embryology of the vertebrates, with particular emphasis on agnathans, cartilaginous fishes, and marine mammals. My most recent work has focused on the biology, ecology, and physiology of hagfishes.

My natural history contributions include magazine articles, contributed chapters, and a book for amateur naturalists.
