The narrative for this chapter is based on what I heard from my father, comments from my mother, letters from the Raulins and from Simone Carpentier, a trip to Normandy where I spoke with Paul Stinklebout, Eva Brown, and surviving members of the FFI in Hacqueville, and two days spent with Lionel Raulin. I reviewed the 62 Evasion and Escape depositions from Buchenwald airmen that are held in the US and UK National Archives. I also received help and advice from those studying the workings of the Comet Line and the SD network in France; individuals and groups are identified in the Acknowledgment section of Betrayed.
